Hanover Co. VA was created on Nov 26, 1719.
William may have owned land in NC. Son Reuben received a land grant in Burke Co. NC Oct 9 1782/3 for 172 acres bordering the land of a William Guthrie.
Son Reuben was appointed Power of Attorney several times "to look after lands" of different individuals, in 1784 and 1787, and appears to be attorney in fact for the heirs of brother Peter Guthrie on Oct 11, 1805 pertaining to Peter's property in the city of Lexington KY.
In Mar 1790, William's daughter Susannah married Benjamin Batterton (1767-1833), in Bourbon Co. KY. They had 10 children. The firstborn was named Reuben in 1791 and another son was named William Guthrie Batterton in 1801.
William's wife Eleanor is buried in the Batterton Cemetery in Paris, Bourbon Co., KY. According to the fieldstone, she was 82 years old.
