Franklin Co. VA was formed from Henry and Bedford Counties in 1785.
Reuben received a land grant in Burke Co. NC Oct 9 1782/3 for 172 acres bordering land owned by William Guthrie (probably his father).
Reuben was appointed Power of Attorney several times "to look after lands" of different individuals, in 1784 and 1787, and appears to be attorney in fact for the heirs of his brother Peter Guthrie on Oct 11, 1805 pertaining to Peter's property in the city of Lexington KY.
In Mar 1790, Reuben's younger sister Susannah married Benjamin Batterton (1767-1833), in Bourbon Co. KY. They had 10 children. The firstborn was named Reuben in 1791 and another son was named William Guthrie Batterton in 1801.
In Jun 1802, Reuben's daughter Betsey married Robert Kincaid (1764-1836), son of John Kincaid Sr. (1710-1811).
In Apr 1808, Reuben's son Nelson married Catherine Low in Lincoln Co. NC. His daughter Patsy had married Thomas Low and had 10 children born to them in Lincoln Co.
