Robert lived in Salem until 1685, the year he sold his one acre lot, and moved to
Beverly. |
Robert was a yeoman and became a "coaster", a carrier of goods and people along the coast
of Massachusetts, after he bought a piece of land with a house and barn in Beverly
on Oct 16, 1698 for 180 pounds. |
When Robert died in 1715, his dwelling, barn, and homestead were appraised at
350 pounds. None of this was willed to John, his eldest son, but instead to the
younger son Benjamin, his three daughters, and John's son
Robert (1705-1797), his grandson.
