Stonington was home to the Pequot Tribe when Thomas Stanton settled on the Pawchatuck River in 1649. The town of Stonington CT was created in 1666.
Jonathan's will was dated Jun 16, 1777. It is different from his son's Will dated 5 Oct. 1772, proven May 24, 1773.
Daughter Dorothy married John Stanton, son of Daniel and Elizabeth Stanton.
Son James was a Colonel. He was on a voyage to the West Indies with a cargo of flour and shipwrecked near Cape Hatteras NC. He settled on the Cape Fear River in Bladen Co. NC.
Son Salmon was a merchant in Boston.
Daughter Prudence married Samuel Woodburn (1723-1803) at Westerly RI on Mar 4, 1757.
Son Stephen married his 2nd cousin Sarah Treat, eldest child of Samuel Treat, Jr. and Jerusha Andrews on Aug 20, 1765 at Wethersfield Congregational Church.
