Anne's first husband, Richard Wright settled in Northumberland Co., Virginia in early 1655. On Oct 7, 1658, he was granted 2200 acres in Westmoreland County, west of the Potomac River. This included 963 acres left to his wife Anne's father, Col. John Mottrom, 1610-1655?.
At the beginning of the Colonial era, Westmoreland was part of Northumberland County, which was created in 1648. Five years later, Northumberland was divided and Westmoreland County as we know it today was established. History of Westmoreland County.
Son Maj. Francis Wright married Anne Washington, the only daughter of John Washington (1633-1679), the immigrant ancestor of George Washington.
