Benedict was also was a farmer, leading "Democrat" in antebellum period, and School
Commissioner 1843. |

Benedict owned a mill on Bristol's Creek. It was a branch of Lower Creek which runs
from Lenoir to the Catawba River, east of Morganton.

Benedict Bristol was head of a household of 14 members: 1 male under 5 (Gideon), 1 male aged 20 to 30 (son George W.), 1 male aged 40 to 50 (Benedict), 1 female under 5 years old (Orah?), 2 females aged 5-10 (Nancy Caroline born 1820 or later, and ?), 3 females aged 10-15 (Margaret Delight, Clara, Emeline), 2 females aged 15-20 (Eudocia, Abigail), 1 female aged 20-30 (2nd wife Elizabeth McCall), and 2 male slaves. |

Daughter Abigail was the first wife of Milton Wilburn Kincaid, the son of James Kincaid. She was buried at the
Kincaid-Bristol Cemetery, located one mile off of Route 18, northeast of Morganton.

Daughter Eudocia married James Hood in 1834, and daughter Emeline Elizabeth married
David Hood in 1837, both sons of John Hood. David Hood later moved to Burke Co.,
buying part of Benedict's old farm on Bristol's Creek. |

Daughter Margaret Delight married Elisha Perkins Kincaid in 1842. |

Daughter Nancy Caroline married Marcus Augustus Tuttle on Dec 23, 1845. He was
a son of the brother of Andrew Hall Tuttle, who came to NC from CT with Benedict.
Andrew also had a daughter named Nancy Caroline, born Nov 6, 1822, who married
Andrew Washington Hood, son of John Hood. Both
Nancy Carolines appear to have been born in the early 1820's. |
