Abe was the second husband of Sarah Richardson , who was an older sister of Mazzie Richardson (1794?-1864), the wife of Andrew Martin (1790?-1856).

Three of Abraham's sons, Wesley, Josephus and Thomas married sisters, Emelia (Milly) Payne in 1835, Paulina Payne in 1838, and Lavinia Jane Payne in 1847, respectively. All three marriages were in Stokes County.
