Husband John Wesley Martin was referred to as "Wesley" by relatives. They married in 1835. Two of Milly's sisters would later marry brothers of Wesley. Paulina Payne married Josephus Martin in 1838, and Thomas Martin married Lavinia Jane Payne in 1847. All three marriages were in Stokes County.
Map of North Carolina Counties in 1780, showing Surry County in the western wilderness. Map in 1800, showing location of Stokes County, formed from Surry in 1789. Stokes borders Rockingham County, which was formed in 1785 from Guilford County.
Martins frequently married other Martins so it was not unusual when daughter Kettie became the second wife of Nicholas Martin. The daughter of Wesley's son Augustus, Maggie Viola Martin, married Samuel Francis Martin (1860-1934).
