There are court records of a suit of John Holloway and his wife Rachel Holloway
vs Thomas Morris; suit dismissed upon defendant's agreeing to pay costs, dated

In 1750, John or his son John Jr., appeared first as a skilled joiner or carpenter
in the "Order Books" of Caroline Co VA [Campbell, p. 406]. |

John's son William may be the William Holloway "of
Carolina County" who, with his wife Mary (Smith, daughter of Peter Smith),
deeded property in Spotsylvania Co. VA on Aug 5, 1755. According to
John's will, William and son Samuel were both to inherit "the land where I live"
[Will of John Holloway, Cumberland Co. VA, 1757]. |

In 1762, a "George Holloway, planter" was among many Caroline Co. residents
owing back tax on wheels levied by the sheriff [Campbell, p. 145]. |

Son John's will, written in Essex Co., was presented for probate in Caroline Co.
VA. "Elizabeth Holloway and John Holloway, executors of the will of John Holloway,
present his will 12 April 1764" and were the executors on Sep 15, 1764 when
a Robert Gilchrist claimed money with costs from the estate [Dorman,
Caroline County VA Order Book, 1764-1765, v. 1, pp. 80, 297]. In 1764,
"John Holloway, Jr." was the sole executor of the estate
of John Holloway in Caroline Co. VA. When he (Jr.) died in 1769,
"Elizabeth Holloway" [his widow] was made executrix [Campbell, pp. 483, 479]. |

Son Nathaniel was possibly the soldier in a regiment to defend the state in 1762
during the French and Indian War (1754-1763).
Afterwards he may have married Mary Eubank, having a son born in 1781.
In 1772, Nathaniel Holloway, a Baptist preacher and a John Partlow (1736?-1789)
were arrested because Holloway was allowed to preach at Partlow's residence. The
1773 testimony of Nathaniel's wife, Mary, was not accepted because she was a Baptist
[Campbell, pp. 226, 283]. |

Son John married Barbara Collawn or Elizabeth Cammack (1740-1812), a cousin on
his mother's side. |

Son George married an Elizabeth [Elliott, Colonial Caroline]. She was
called "Betty" when George's estate was administrated by a Thomas
Slaughter and Betty Holloway in 1771, and his widow in 1772, and when their son
Charles was listed as a ward of "Betty Holloway (mother)" [Campbell, pp. 483-4,
492]. |

Daughter Susannah may have married Thomas Royston Nov 27, 1788 in Caroline Co. VA.
However an Elizabeth born about 1760 married a Thomas Royston (1740-1814) on
Oct 26, 1786 in Christ Church, Middlesex Co. VA, and they had a daughter Joanna
(b. 1793) who married a Robert Green Holloway (b. 1790?) on Aug 12, 1816 in
Caroline Co. VA [Reskovac, "Royston Genealogy from Thomas 1835 Virginia",
