Daughter Sarah married Robert Beville Jr. (1723-1765) about 1750.
Son Joseph Ford may be the Ensign Joseph Ford who fought under Col. Powell in the Cherokee Wars of 1759-60 in SC. One of the Captains was older son James Ford [Andrea, "SC Colonial Soldiers & Patriots..."].
In 1762, son James married a woman named Ann Townsend in NC and they had ten children, including John, who became known as Rev. John Ford.
A "Ford, Jno, Sergt." enlisted Sep 1, 1778 for 9 months service, was "Ensn." Nov 3, 1778 in Jarvis' company, and "Lieut." in 1780. [Thomas, "Roster of North Carolina Troops...", website, vol 16, p. 1059].
Ensign John Ford enlisted Nov 3, 1778 and initially served under Lt. Stephen Jarvis. Jarvis was a British commander when he led a charge at Biggin Creek Bridge in SC on Jul 16, 1781. John Ford was "Ensign 3rd North Carolina, 30th November, 1778; taken prisoner at Charleston, 12th May, 1780; Lieutenant, 23d January, 1781, and served to close of war" [Heitman, Historical Register of Officers of the Continental Army ..., page 232].
The minor battle at Biggin Creek Bridge on Jul 16, 1781 was located in the original Charles Town District (see Map for location of battle [carolana.com/sc/Revolution, website].
A John Ford [grandson?], on Oct 20, 1778, entered a land claim no. 277 in Rowan Co. NC, that was granted in Oct 10, 1783 and was not a military grant based on service in the Continental Army [NC Land Grants, Claim #277, file no. 894].
In a letter from Carlos de Grand-Pré, Natchez, Mar 2, 1790, to Governor Don Estavan Miro, that stated amount of tobacco produced by growers in the Natchez District, "Joseph Ford" produced 4,500 pounds of tobacco and his son "John Ford" produced 5,400 pounds of tobacco, and another son "Robert Ford" produced 8,000 pounds of tobacco [MDAH, website].
The Adams Co. MS will of son Joseph Ford, dated Nov 6, 1804, probate date unknown, names wife Rebecca, children John (executor), Thomas, Joseph (Jr.), Robert, George, Esther Strawder, & Elizabeth, and grandchildren "Elizabeth, & George Holliway". Joseph's son Robert Ford was a witness along with John Spires and Jacob Guice.
In 1805, a "John Ford" was listed in the Burke Co. list of taxables [page 237], as owning 270 acres and taxable for 1 poll [persons living on the land over a certain age]. He was listed in Captain Howel's Company near a John White, (400 acres and 1 poll), posibly a grandson of William White [NCGSJ, in Alexander, Here Will I Dwell..., p. 237].
According to W. W. Lambright's History of Franklin County, Mississippi From 1809-1899, grandson John Ford was among the first settlers of Franklin Co. MS [MSGW, website]. Franklin Co. MS was formed in 1809 from Adams Co. (see present day map for location).
