Cheshire was part of Wallingford until 1780 when it separated from Wallingford and became its own town.
In the Revolutionary War, Gideon was a Private in Capt. Bunnell's Company, Col. Douglass' Regiment, Connecticut Line at Harlem Heights & White Plains. As a Cpl., he served at Lexington Alarm.
Daughter Delight married Ezra Bristol, son of Ezra Bristol (1753-1819), who was a grandson of Henry Bristol.
Gideon is buried with Abigail and their son Sherlock at Hillside cemetery in Cheshire. Photos of the 3 tombstones, Abigail's tombstone, and Sherlock's tombstone. Sherlock died of poison.
According to the records of the Episcopal Church in Cheshire CT, son Gideon died "Sep 30, 1846, aged 61 yrs." [Beach, "Record of Burials from Episcopal Church", website].
