John was a preacher and one of the first settlers of the Quaboag Plantation until
an Indian attack destroyed the town, prompting him to move to nearby Hadley,
where he taught school from 1674 to 1680. |

|
Quaboag Plantation was settled in 1660. John came there in 1667 to administer his
brother James' estate, and stayed to become the first minister of the settlement,
though he was never ordained. Brookfield was incorporated from the Quaboag settlement
in 1673. |

| John was Suffield's minister until his death three years before daughter Lydia married George Granger . | |||
