Isle of Wight in 1637 (see
present day map for location). Surry County, which now borders to the northwest

James City County in 1652 (see

| By 1738, son Benjamin had moved to an area that became Edgecomb Co. NC. Edgecombe was formed in 1741 from Bertie County (See map of NC counties in 1740), then Halifax County was formed from part of Edgecombe. (See map showing Edgecombe and Halifax counties in 1760). | |||
