After Joseph's mother remarried in 1663, she moved from Stratford with her younger
children (Hannah, Sarah, Obadiah, and Phoebe) to Killingworth CT, where her new husband,
William Hayden, lived. Joseph, who was then already married with three children,
followed them to Killingworth. |

Killingworth is in Middelsex County CT, on the south shore of
Connecticut. Joseph was one of its original landowners of 1663, when it was
known as Hammonassett Plantation. It was sometimes called Kenilworth. Originally,
Yale University was located in Killingworth. |

Daughter Hannah married Peter Farnum on
Dec 8, 1686, only the fourth marriage recorded in the early history of Killingworth. |
