Surry County Virginia was chartered in 1652, formed from James City County, south of the James River (see present day map for location).
Elizabeth's brother William Pettway and her future husband Samuel Judkins, were among the 40 "less prominent Baconians" (supporters of Bacon's Rebellion) who took the King's pardon, Feb 6, 1676/7.
