Clark County April Court 1823


In the name of God Amen, I John Holloway, Senr of the County of Clarke and State of Kentucky, being weak in body but of sound and perfect memory (blessed be Almighty God for the [ ]) do make and publish my last will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
First I give unto my three youngest children viz. Lucretia, George and Jesse Holloway and likewise to my second child viz. Nancy Edgington an equal part of my Estate with those who are married.
Secondly the balance of my estate to be equally divided amongst all my children after having paid all my Just debts.
Thirdly that the whole of my property to be kept together until the crop be finished, which I assign to be in the month of November, and that the whole of the crop which will be my [ ] to be kept together for the benefit of my wife, and the remainder of my family.
Fourthly I do hereby appoint my three eldest sons viz. Spencer, Thomas, and John Holloway to be Executors of my Estate.
Signed Sealed Published and declared by the above named John Holloway Senior to be my Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have here unto subscribed our names as the witnesses in the presence of the Testation this 12th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eighteen hundred twenty three.
