Thomas Ford may have lived in SC before moving to Natchez District in Adams Co.
In a letter from Carlos de Grand-Pré, Natchez, Mar 2, 1790, to Governor Don Estavan Miro, that stated amount of tobacco produced by growers of Natchez, a "John Ford" produced 5400 pounds of tobacco, a "Robert Ford" produced 8000 pounds of tobacco, and a "Joseph Ford" produced 4500 pounds of tobacco [MDAH, website].
The 1792 Natchez District Head of Household Index placed each household in one of nine areas within the district. Included in the SS = Second & Sandy Creek area, households of:
Juan Holladay;
Joshua Howard [he had returned by then to his plantation where John Holloway was killed 11 years earlier, his son John Holloway, born 1769, may have married a Sarah Ford];
"Juan Foard"; "Thomas Foard".
The Census of the Natchez District in 1792. The census is translated from the Spanish handwritten records. The following were all located in the "Second Y Sandy Creek" subdivision which became part of Franklin Co. in 1809:
Juan (John) Holladay; 0 arpents, 1 White [himself], no Blacks.
Tonio (Tony) Howard; 400 arpents [336 acres], 6 Whites , 5 Blacks. [translated differently as "Joshua" in the Head of household index found on a different website].
Juan and Thomas Foard households [possibly including Sarah before marrying John]:
Juan (John) Foard; 800 arpents [672 acres], 6 Whites, 2 Blacks.
Tomas (Thomas) Foard; 0 arpents, 3 Whites, 0 Blacks.
Son George Ford was married to Penelope "Penny Dun" (1790-1830) on Jan 30, 1808 in Adams Co., Miss. Terr. by John Girault with consent of "Richard Dun" according to the certificate [Miss. Marriages 1802-1819, last entry p. 56, ancestry.com].
The Spires and Dunn families were well acquainted with each other, and, in the 1810 census of Franklin Co. MS, the Dunns were living only 3 households away from John Spires.
A Sarah Ford married a William Graves, born in SC after 1780, died before Mar 11, 1849 in Franklin Co. MS. They had one child by 1810 according to the Franklin Co. MS census of that year.
William Graves household:
1 male over 21 (William Graves), 1 male under 21,
1 female over 21 (Sarah Ford),
and 7 Slaves.
This household is also found under William Graves in the 1816 Census for Franklin Co. dated May 14, 1816.
Son "Bartlet Ford" married Judith King Perry "a widow" on Jul 7, 1808 in Adams Co. He is buried in the Bartlett Ford Cemetery in Franklin Co. MS. Marriage permit record dated Jun 20, 1808 and Marriage record dated Jul 7, 1808 [Miss. Marriages 1802-1819, last entry p. 75, 2nd entry on right p. 115, ancestry.com].
In 1810, there are six Ford households in the Franklin Co. 1810 Census including:
Thomas Ford (himself):
1 male over 21, 6 males under 21, 1 female over 21, 2 females under 21, no free Negroes, and 2 Slaves.
John Ford [brother]:
3 males over 21, 4 males under 21, 1 female over 21, 5 females under 21, no free Negroes, and 6 Slaves (all children except last still in the household).
Joseph Ford (Jr. son of brother Joseph):
2 males over 21, 1 male under 21, no female over 21, 3 females under 21, no free Negroes or Slaves.
There is a "Bartlitt Ford" household with 2 adults, 1 female child and 15 slaves. His son Thomas Bartlett Ford (1827-1858) married Rebecca Ann Cain. She had five children and remarried after 1858 to a man named Seale. These Fords were originally from SC and came down the Mississippi on a barge and settled in counties south of Claiborne.
Franklin Co. MS was formed in 1809 from Adams Co. (see present day map for location).
Amite Co. MS was formed in 1809 from Adams Co. and now lies between Franklin Co. to the north and Louisiana to the south. (see present day map for location).
A daughter "Freedom Ford" was married to John P. Holmes on Jan 6, 1812 in Adams Co., Miss. Terr. by John Girault with consent of a Robert Ford [Thomas' brother?] according to certificate [Miss. Marriages 1802-1819, last entry p. 223, ancestry.com]
In the 1816 Franklin Co. MS Census, page 9, there are 3 large Ford households:

6 males under 21 [John D., Absolam, Freeman, Thomas C. and ?],
1 female over 21 [wife Elizabeth],
1 female under 21, [daughter Elizabeth born after 1794]
and 4 slaves.
In brother John Ford's household (line 2) were:
1 male over 21 [John S.],
3 males under 21 [Jesse, Thomas and ?Absalom],
1 female over 21 [wife Elizabeth],
3 females under 21 [Nancy, Anna and ?],
and 8 slaves.
On line 14 of page 10 son Bartlett Ford's household had:
2 males over 21 [Bartlett, ?],
5 males under 21,
2 females over 21 [wife Judith,?],
2 females under 21 [?],
and 43 slaves.
In the 1816 Franklin Co. MS Census, page 4, there were 3 more Ford households:

In nephew William Ford's household (line 13) were:
1 male over 21 [William],

In nephew Henry Ford's household (line 14) were:
1 male over 21 [Henry],
no males under 21,
1 female over 21 [wife Mary Buckles who died in 1821],
2 females under 21, [born 1814-16]
In the 1816 Franklin Co. MS Census, page 12, line 8, there is the household of son James Ford:
1 male over 20 [James, born before 1796],
1 male under 20,
2 females over 20 [wife],
2 females under 20.
On line 14 of the same page, there is a household headed by possible cousin "George Halloway" with a male and female over age 20 with one male child and no slaves.
In the 1830 Franklin Co. MS Census, page 157, line 4, there is the household of son "Jas. Ford" born between 1780 and 1790, with no males or slaves and a single female child under 5. The geographic location of the enumeration is given as "Leesdale, Adams Co."
On lines 2 and 3 are two other Ford households:
"Penelope Ford" a 30-40 year old with 4 members all 20 years old or younger, and one female slave aged 36-55.
and "Jno. D. Ford" a 20-30 year old with a 20-30 year old female and one male under 21, and two male slaves.

On line 14 of the same page, there is a household headed by possible cousin "George Halloway" with a male and female over age 20 with one male child and no slaves.
