Thomas was a carpenter, shipbuilder, and worker in metals.
Albemarle was formed in 1664 but by 1670 had been split into Chowan and Perquimans Precincts as shown on a Map of the North Carolina Counties in 1740. By 1689, Albemarle was no longer a county, but still used to describe the northeastern region of North Carolina. Officially, Albemarle County ceased to exist in 1689 though the name persisted. At the time Thomas's will was signed and proved, Kendrick Creek was officially in Chowan County. From 1729 to 1799, Kendrick Creek was in Tyrell County; and, from 1799 to the present, it has been in Washington County. Map of the North Carolina Counties in 1800.
Thomas Blount was one of 12 vestry members that created the first parish in the North Carolina colony in 1701. His name is inscribed on a marble plaque, now on the rear wall of the sanctuary of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, built in 1736 and still standing, in Edenton NC. History of the Church from the church website.
Thomas Blount's second wife, Mary, was possibly the widow of Thomas Scott. She married Thomas Lee after Thomas Blount died.
Son Thomas was grandfather of William Blount, 1749-1800, signer of the U.S. Constitution.
