In 1771, father Thomas White and William Loving,
the son-in-law of uncle James Taylor White,
both appear on the first tax list for Surry County NC. Both men registered their
stock marks in February of the same year in Rowan County NC.
In 1776, father Thomas White moved to the Johns River (located in what would become
Burke Co. NC), living there for 24 years. William Loving moved to the Yadkin River
in what would become Wilkes Co. NC. |

Capt. Thomas White Jr. served in the Continental Army from North Carolina. He
was commissioned or enlisted Jan 20, 1777 in Thomas Donohoe's Company of the 6th
Regiment, and mustered in 1779 in the 5th Regiment. |

Daughter Sophia White Sims, was the second wife of Davenport Wiseman (1771-1820),
who was the son of William Wiseman, the emigrant from London, and Mary.
Davenport had six children and in MS became an attorney. Davenport's brother Martin
(1773-1834) married Sarah White who was a daughter of Benjamin White, a brother
of this Thomas White. |

NC Census for 3rd Company, "White, Thos Jr." is listed as a
head of household of 7 members: 1 male aged 16 and up (Thomas), 2 males under age 16 (Larken, Nelson), 4 white females (wife Sarah White, Sophia, Phoebe, and Mary). Thomas' brother Reuben is listed in the same Company near his father. Reuben is head of a household of 5 members: 1 male aged 16 and up (Reuben), 2 males under age 16, 2 white females (Reuben's wife, 1 daughter). |

In 1792, Thomas received one of the Spanish land grants in the Natchez District in
present-day Claiborne Co. MS and the family moved there about 1794. |

recorded in the District of Bayou Pierre for 400 acres bordering "Filmer and
Abram Green [sons of Thomas Green Sr.]

witnessed by Ebenezer Smith, Davenport Wiseman and son

In Nov 1801, Reuben White (brother) bought "an improvement 3 miles from
Bayou Pierre, 2 miles from Storey's Mill" in the Natchez District for $120
[McBee, pp. 360, 377]. |

Miss. Terr. and including the towns of Port Gibson and Grand Gulf

Son Larken married Mary McCaleb (1779-1817) in Claiborne Co. MS in 1803. They had
a son William T. White (1808-1822) who died young and all three are buried in the
McCaleb Hermitage Cemetery on the land of the plantation in Carlisle, Claiborne
Co. MS. |

The 1810 Census of Claiborne Co. MS, includes the following households: Thomas White, Nelson White, Reuben White, Larkin White, and Dempsey White. The Claiborne Co. Tax Roll for the same year has: Thomas White, 1540 acres in Bayou Pierre & Port Gibson, from a "Spanish & Donation" claim, having 21 slaves. Reuben White (brother), 100 acres in W. Bayou Pierre, from a preemption claim, no slaves. Dempsey White, 640 acres in W. Bayou Pierre, from a Donation claim (military), no whites or slaves. "Devenport" Wiseman [married to daughter Sophia], 352 acres in Big Sandy Creek, from a preemption claim, and 1 slave. |

In the 1816 Claiborne Co. Census, there are 5 households named White: Sarah (widow),
Dempsey, Larkin, Reuben, and Thompson. In the 1810 Tax Roll for the county are
Reuben, Dempsey, Nelson, Larkin, and Benedict White. Benedict and Dempsey
White may be sons of James White. |

The Estate of Larken White is listed on Page 6 line 14 of the
Claiborne Co. Tax Roll for 1823 as follows: Larken White (Estate), 320 acres in Big Sand [Sandy Creek], having no polls and 10 slaves. |

Daughter Phoebe married Ralph Regan Jr. in 1808 and they are both buried in the
Regan Cemetery in Reganton, Claiborne Co. MS.

According to a newspaper death notice she "has resided in the county for 45 years",
meaning she was brought at the age of about 8 years old [about 1794]. |

Claiborne Co. Tax Roll for 1810 as follows: Ralph Regan Esq. 100 acres in Bayou Pierre (Spanish), one poll and 14 slaves. Ralph Regan Esq. 300 acres in W. Bayou Pierre (Spanish), no polls and no slaves. The same entries appear in 1823 Tax Rolls. He is found in the 1816 Claiborne Co. Census under the name "Ralph Ragan". |

Thomas White Jr. is listed in the 1810 Tax Rolls for Claiborne Co. as owning land
in the Bayou Pierre part of what used to be the Natchez District. In the in the
same county as Reuben Stilley (2 slaves and no land), and uncle Reuben White. |

Daughter Sarah was born in May 1792 in Burke Co. NC. and married Stephen H.
Johnson in 1818. They are buried in Hazelhurst Cemetery which is in Copiah Co. MS,

about 4 miles south of Port Gibson. |
