Rapides Parish was formed in 1807 by the Territory of Orleans government. (see present day map for location).
At present, Holloway is a community in Rapides Parish LA. It's center is located at the intersection of Hickory Grove Road, State Route 1207 and Route 28, about 14 miles NE of the parish seat of Alexandria, and 50 miles W of Natchez MS. Holloway Methodist Cemetery is located just off of Hickory Grove Road at the end of Slay Cemetery Road (see present day map for location). There is also a Hickory Grove Cemetery also known as Holloway Baptist Cemetery.
Catahoula Parish was formed in 1808 and originally bordered Rapides Parish. (see present day map for location). About 1910 a western part of the parish became La Salle Parish which contained Catahoula Lake (2007 map of La Salle Parish.
In the 1850 U.S. Census, father Thomas is listed as a farmer, aged 29 in Rapides Parish LA. In 1860, he is listed as being aged 41, and Alexander is listed as being aged 8 [Ancestry.com].
The mother of Alexander may have been Sarah Cooper, daughter of the Nancy Cooper, aged 70 in his household in the 1860 Census. Nancy was born in 1790 in SC. She and husband John are listed in the 1830 Rapides Parish Census with two sons and one daughter aged under 5 [US Census, Rapides Parish LA, p. 93].
Daughter Mary Ellen married John Ogden in Catahoula Parish LA on Apr 17, 1909.
Alex Holloway died in Apr 1915 of heart failure at age of "about 60" while boating on Catahoula Lake according to a newspaper death notice. Portrait photo.
Daughter Alice Ophelia married Henry Alexander Sasser (1878-1928) and died giving birth to Alice Ophelia Sasser, who married another Sasser named Thomas.
In the 1900 U.S. Census for Rapides Parish, a "Cliff Holliway" aged 46 is listed with a household that matches Alexander Holloway:

James, aged 6;

Son James Alexander was registered in Catahoula Parish for service during World War I.
Son Allen, known as Fillmore, was registered for service in WWI under the name Allen Philmore Halloway of Jonesville, Catahoula Parish LA. He was a logger.
Son Fillmore and his wife were living in Harrisonburg, Catahoula Parish LA when he died. He is buried in Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery in Rhinehart, La Salle Parish LA. Photo of grave marker.
