On Jun 1, 1750 Peter patented 522 acres in Amelia Co. VA on both sides of Fflewellens's Branch of Bush River adjoining Watkins and Randolph. By 1754 he had moved to NC, appearing on the list of Capt. Daniel Harris' Company, Col. William Eaton's Regiment of Granville Co. (Bute in 1764) NC.
Many Davises are listed in the 1771 Granville [Co. NC] List of Taxables on page 11 and page 12 [NC State Archives, original].
Peter lived in the same place in North Carolina between 1754 and 1804 (see map of the region in 1746 from the Granville County 1746 Society's website and the (Map of North Carolina Counties in 1800). Granville County was created from Edgecombe in 1754 ( Map), then it became Bute in 1764 ( Map), and finally Warren was created in 1779 ( Map). Bute was the Prime Minister of King George III and the residents did not like that so they split up Bute County into Franklin and Warren Counties.
Sons Matthew and Burwell were Revolutionary War soldiers. Burwell was in the battle of Guilford Courthouse and fought in campaigns at King's Mountain and South Carolina (see map of Revolutionary War engagements in North Carolina, by Mark Anderson Moore, courtesy NCOA&H).

Daughters Mary and Sylvia married the same man, William Hogwood. He married Mary in 1798 after Sylvia had died. Sylvia and William had 3 children.
Hannah Turner was the daughter of Thomas Turner, brother of James Turner, Governor of North Carolina. She became the second wife of Peter Davis before Thomas Turner died in 1788.
In his Will dated Feb 15, 1803, Peter "devises to", in the following order, his wife Hannah, his sons Matthew, Giles, Burwell, Buckner, Allen W., his daughter Rebecca Winn, his granddaughter Mary Winn, his sons Thomas and Jacob, and his daughters Winny and Temperance. It was probated a year later.
