Photo of two portraits: son John Leith in 1907, and Jennie in 1884.
Husband John Burton Holloway (Jr.) was born eight days after his father died Jul 1, 1863 at the Battle of Gettysburg.
In 1901, husband John was elected Graded School Tax Collector for Burke County and held the position for the next 2 years. He was a member of the Graded School Board of Education and was Treasurer of the Board 2 years. He was elected (Democrat) Register of Deeds in 1906 and served 10 years. In 1919 he was appointed U.S. Deputy Marshal and served until 1921. On Jun 1, 1922 he was made Superintendent of Prison Camps and served almost 20 years without losing a single day.

Daughter Mary married William Lee Curlee in 1913. Their son Bill died in the Ringling Brother and Barnum & Bailey Circus Fire in Hartford CT on July 6, 1944, but not before saving many lives. Bill's heroics are described in The Circus Fire by Stewart O'Nan.
Daughter Louise Victoria married Albert Francis Garrou (1893-1978). Both are buried in the Waldensian Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Valdese, Burke Co. NC. His grave includes a placque with the inscription "Original Settler of Valdese".
Daughter Gladys Jennie (Aunt Gladys) lived to be 102 years old, living through the entire 20th Century.
