Robert and Partheny Chandler lived in Henry County, Virginia until about 1769. They moved to Wilkes County, North Carolina about 1772, and then to Lauren County, South Carolina, and finally to Wilson County, Tenn. This is based on their own records of the births of their fourteen children.
Map of North Carolina Counties in 1775, showing Surry County in the western wilderness. Map in 1780, showing new counties, Burke and Wilkes.
Son Josiah fought in the Revolutionary War. He entered service in 1778 and was under the command of Captain Lenoir, Col. Cleveland and Captain Keys, at the battles of Rainbow Mills, Kings Mountain and in 1782 against the indians.
Son Josiah and daughter Rebecca married a daughter and son of Abraham Eddins (1724-1801): Sarah ("Sallie") in Wilkes Co. in 1784, and William Eddins. These two marriages produced a total of 30 children.
