The land granted in SC is in what was once Craven County, one of the three original
parts of the English colony of "Carolana". By 1760, the White family was attending the
Cashaway Baptist Church near the Pee Dee River just east of present-day Darlington SC. |

Daughter Dinah married Capt. John James Sr. by 1738 in St. Pauls Parish, King George
Co. VA. She is buried in the James Family Cemetery in Fauquier Co. VA |

Grandaughter Susannah married Thomas Dewitt Jr.
(1752-1811), and probably died before Oct 26, 1787 when her father's will mentioned
her 5 Children: Frances, Salley, William, James, and Thomas [Vineyard, p. 99].
Frances Dewitt was born in 1779, married her cousin Frederick Dewitt, son of
Capt. William Dewitt, and died 1858 in Greene
Co. TN. |

In May 1772, 100 acres on the southwest side of the Pee Dee River in St. David's
Parish SC was conveyed to son Erasmus. |

August 15, 1770 petition by
William White seeking government relief for him and his family.
That year, Reuben apparently bought William's land in St. David's parish,
Craven Co. SC so that William could pay off his debts. William was in jail for
debt in Cheraws SC in 1774. He later turns his life completely around in NC
by the end of the century (see below). |

The will of father-in-law John Waggoner, probated May 1716, in Essex Co. VA
provides for members of the Allen family: "...First, I bequeath my sole to allmighty God I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Rachel Waggnor the plantation I now live on after her death it goes to me son Benjamin Waggnor or his heirs forever, & I give to my wife the negros Doll, Markus (Martin) and Jugg during her natural life and after her death I give negros Doll to my daughter Margarit Allen wife of William Allen to her and her heirs forever." "... I give to my daughter Dinah Allen wife of Erasmus Allen one cow. __ I give to my daughter Margaret Allen wife of William Allen one cow. __ is will that if my negro woman Doll should ever have any more children __ what I have allready given that the next child she has goes to Dinal Allen wife of Erasmus Allen and her heirs and the nextnegor child after goes to Herbert Waggnor and his heirs..." "... Then Doll to my Daughter Margarit Allen wife of William Allen... To "my daughter Dinah Allen wife of Erasmus Allen one cow". The Will of Rachell Waggener of Southfarnham Parish in Essex County, was dated Apr 6, 1717 also provides for daughters Dinah Allen and Margaret Allen. |
